Horizon Cough 1K. When coughing isn't a reflex.
An automatic airway-clearance system built for invasively ventilated patients. A closed-loop algorithm detects the cough cycle, preserves post-cough PEEP, and coordinates oscillation with the ventilator — so the nurse manages the patient, not the machine.
- Exsufflation flow > 200 L/min
- Cough pressure −30 to −90 cmH₂O
- Treatment cycle 5 – 120 min
- Display 8" TFT waveform
The cycle starts itself.
A pressure-flow discrimination algorithm watches for the early signature of a cough attempt — and triggers the insufflation–exsufflation cycle in under 120 milliseconds. No trigger buttons. No clinician foot-pedal. The machine simply meets the patient.
- 01Pressure-flow signature detection at 1 kHz
- 02Closed-loop cycle start & terminate
- 031–10 coughs per treatment, user-configurable
- 045–120 min cycle windows for protocol flexibility
PEEP never drops.
Every exsufflation ends on a gradient — a controlled return to the patient's clinician-set PEEP before airway pressure can collapse. No derecruitment. No re-intubation spiral. Safe-Exsuff is the reason Horizon Cough 1K earns a place in ICUs that treat patients with the thinnest margin.
- 01Clinician-set baseline PEEP preservation
- 02Graded exsufflation termination — no pressure cliff
- 03Post-cough stabilisation window 2–8 s
- 04Real-time airway-pressure trace on 8" display
Secretions,
mobilised with precision.
Superimposed pressure oscillations gently shear the mucus column free from the bronchial wall — before the exsufflation phase removes it. Clinicians report faster sputum yield, fewer re-treatments, and a treatment the patient actually tolerates.
- 015–20 Hz oscillation overlay during insufflation
- 02Amplitude tunable ±5 cmH₂O
- 03Pairs with SmartCycling automatically
- 04Optional exsufflation-volume limiter
Works with
the ventilator you already own.
SyncMate tubing routes the cough cycle through the existing ventilator circuit — no disconnection, no apnea exposure, no broken seal. The machine recognises the ventilation mode in use and coordinates within it.
- 01Compatible with AC · SIMV · VC · PC · PSV
- 02In-line integration — circuit stays intact
- 03Vibration mode available for therapy tuning
- 04Waveform overlay display on 8" TFT
The numbers, without varnish.
Measured at 23 °C, sea-level ambient, with a standard 22 mm patient circuit and adult endotracheal tube. Full IEC 60601-1 / 60601-1-2 conformance on file for partner tenders.

Built for the hour
everyone forgot to plan for.
Retained secretions. A patient who can't clear them. A nurse who needs both hands free. The Horizon Cough 1K is designed for the four-AM moment when manual bagging isn't a solution, and an unplanned extubation isn't an option.
“ We replaced a manual airway-clearance protocol across two ICUs with the Cough 1K. Secretion yield rose, re-intubations fell, and the nurses regained time they were spending on manual percussion. Nobody wants to go back.
